We have finally been given a comprehensive look at Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, the expansion for FromSoftware’s highly acclaimed 2022 open-world game. Fortunately, the wait for its release won't be too long, as publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has confirmed a June 21 launch date.
The trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree showcases extensive gameplay, featuring a new area for players to explore, various bosses and combat encounters, as well as exciting new weapons. Notable highlights include a boss resembling a giant burning wicker man, a hippo-like creature capable of emitting sparks from its body, and a formidable flaming crossbow weapon. The trailer also depicts the player facing death multiple times, indicating that Shadow of the Erdtree will offer a challenging yet rewarding gameplay experience similar to the original.
While the trailer doesn't reveal much about the story, the description hints at a character named Miquella awaiting the return of their promised Lord in the Land of Shadow. The trailer concludes by confirming the June 21 release date for Shadow of the Erdtree, along with the pre-order bonus of the Ring of Miquella in-game gesture. Additionally, the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Edition, containing both the base game and the expansion, as well as a Collector’s Edition featuring a hardcover art book and Messmer the Impaler statue, will also be available on that day.
Elden Ring is currently accessible on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Shadow of the Erdtree will enhance the experience on all these platforms starting June 21.
