Farewell, Pokemon Let's Go Johto.

 It appears that the opportunity has passed, and I have made the decision to abandon it.

I have decided to officially stop supporting the idea of a new Pokemon Let's Go game. 

It has been evident for some time now that this was not going to happen. 

The latest opportunity we had was during today's Pokemon Presents event, but unfortunately, that chance has now passed.

 Let's Go Johto seems to be within reach, yet just out of grasp. 

While Pokemon has a wide range of spin-offs, it appears that Let's Go may not be receiving any further attention.

One major obstacle for a potential Let's Go sequel is its association with Pokemon Go.

 Despite my view of it as a charming recreation of Gen 1 with a more inviting aesthetic and enjoyable reinterpretation of various characters and challenges, it was primarily created as a companion to Pokemon Go. 

Once a global phenomenon, Pokemon Go has now become just another mobile game relying on a small number of big spenders to sustain itself. 

Although the Pokemon brand still carries weight, it may not be more deserving of a Nintendo Switch game than an individual attempting to extract gold from a castle by removing bars that lead to lava flow.

However, it does not necessarily have to be so closely tied to Pokemon Go. 

This connection has been inconsistent at best - while some players started with Pokemon Go and then moved on to Let's Go, at some point Pokemon must acknowledge its status as the most popular media franchise worldwide. 

A potential Let's Go 2 does not need to be linked to our Pokemon Go progress or require the purchase of a compatible accessory; it could simply be a remake of Johto with the same catching mechanics, lively aesthetic, and emphasis on catching and candy.

There are numerous Pokemon spin-offs, and Nintendo may not have the capacity to develop them all in-house, often outsourcing them. 

I am still anticipating a new Conquest game, disappointed by the absence of DLC for New Snap, and was hoping for a new Mystery Dungeon announcement today. 

Let's Go does not introduce many new elements to the series, with some viewing it as a simplified version of the Pokemon experience, especially since Gold & Silver were already remade as HeartGold & SoulSilver. However, given the popularity of the Kanto versions, perhaps it has earned another chance? 

At least I am not solely relying on the PokePark series.

I firmly believe that Let's Go stands out as one of the top Pokemon games available. 

It serves as an ideal starting point for any Pokemon enthusiast due to its high level of accessibility, familiar characters and locations, and impressive visuals. 

I personally view it as a significant addition to the overall legacy of the Pokemon franchise. However, it has become apparent to me that Nintendo may not share the same sentiment.

Unless I add the disclaimer that I reserve the option to return from retirement once the Switch 2 is released, as it would provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the motion controls of the new console. 

Given the rumors suggesting that the Switch 2 will be an enhanced version of the current console rather than a completely new concept, it is likely to feature motion control and gyro capabilities. Historically, consoles with motion features heavily promote them at launch before gradually reducing their emphasis as interest wanes.

The vague 2025 release date for Legends suggests that it could potentially serve as the launch title for the Pokemon Switch 2, rather than a sequel to Let's Go. Even if the Switch 2 is not released until later in 2025 and Legends marks the end of the original Switch's lifecycle, there seems to be little reason for Pokemon to delay announcing a launch title for the Switch 2, especially when many are already assuming that Legends will fulfill that role.

Pokemon has a history of introducing new concepts only to later discard them, such as Megas, Z-Moves, and Gigantamax. However, the mention of Legends Z-A hints at the return of Megas, leaving room for the possibility of revisiting past ideas. 

After reconsidering, I am eagerly anticipating the Summer Game Fest and the anticipated reveal of Let's Go 2! The only remaining question is whether I should choose to play as Marill or Togepi.
