"Biden's concise warning to Iran: 'Don't' consider a retaliatory attack on Israel."
President Joe Biden has warned Iran regarding a suspected attack on Israel, occurring alongside an incident where Israeli settlers assaulted a Palestinian village, resulting in one death and over 20 injuries.
Joe Biden affirmed the United States' commitment to defending Israel, stating that "Iran will not succeed."
Israel is preparing for a potential Iranian assault following an airstrike that resulted in the deaths of two Iranian generals in Syria earlier this month.
Iran has accused Israel of carrying out the airstrike and promised retaliation, while Israel has refrained from commenting on the incident.
During a press conference on Friday, the US president issued a strong warning to Iran regarding the potential strike, simply stating, "Don't."
"We are committed to defending Israel and will provide our support," Biden stated in response to inquiries about the potential deployment of additional US troops to the Middle East.
"We will assist in defending Israel, and Iran's efforts will not prevail," he remarked, declining to answer a question about the circumstances that would prompt a direct military response from the US.
When asked about the likelihood of an Iranian attack on Israel, Biden replied, "My anticipation is sooner rather than later."
"Israel announces increased aid for Gaza amid ongoing conflict"
Israel announced the opening of a new aid truck crossing into severely affected northern Gaza on Friday, aiming to "improve humanitarian aid corridors," as stated by the IDF on X.
However, the United Nations reports ongoing challenges with distributing aid deliveries.
United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRA) Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini expressed that the proposed increase in aid deliveries lacks "tangible, sustained, or uninterrupted" implementation.
The UN has cautioned that distributing aid in Gaza is risky and often delayed due to long waits at inspection checkpoints.
Jamie McGoldrick, the UN humanitarian coordinator for the Palestinian territories, remarked, "Israel can easily say, 'We've sent you 1,000 trucks, so please ensure they reach Gaza.'"
McGoldrick noted that delivering aid to the northern area of the territory, where famine is looming, presents significant challenges. Currently, only one or two roads leading north are open at any given time.
Following an Israeli strike that resulted in the deaths of seven aid workers during a World Central Kitchen mission, numerous aid organizations have halted their convoys heading north.
Under mounting US pressure to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Israel has committed this week to significantly boost aid to the region.
Israeli settlers invade Palestinian village
On Friday, dozens of Israeli settlers raided the village of al-Mughayyir in the occupied West Bank, firing weapons and setting ablaze houses and cars.
Health officials reported that the attack resulted in the death of one Palestinian man and injuries to 25 others.
According to an Israeli human rights organization, the settlers were reportedly searching for a 14-year-old boy who had gone missing from their settlement.
Israeli troops stated that they were continuing their search for the teenager following the disturbance.
Since the conflict began in October, Palestinian health officials have reported that over 460 Palestinians have lost their lives in the West Bank due to actions by Israeli forces.
The deceased individual, identified as 26-year-old Jehad Abu Alia by his family, was fatally shot during a confrontation. His father, Afif Abu Alia, expressed uncertainty regarding the source of the fatal bullet, whether it was from an armed settler or an Israeli soldier.
Afif Abu Alia, speaking from a hospital in Ramallah, stated that his son had joined others to protect their land and dignity, leading to the tragic outcome.
The Israeli army claimed that their forces responded with gunfire after being targeted with stones by Palestinians. They confirmed that Israeli settlers were evacuated from the village.
The IDF announced that the violent protests had been dispersed, and no Israeli civilians remained in the area.
President Joe Biden has repeatedly voiced concerns over the increase in settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. Human rights organizations have criticized the military for failing to prevent settler violence and hold soldiers accountable for their actions.
In Gaza, Israel's military offensive has resulted in the deaths of over 33,600 Palestinians and injuries to more than 76,200, as reported by the Health Ministry in the enclave.
While the ministry's figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, it highlights that women and children constitute a significant portion of the casualties.
The conflict began on October 7 when Hamas carried out a surprise attack, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians. Additionally, Palestinian militants took around 250 individuals hostage.
